The HAGS has been running since mid-January and will provide 270,000 grants nationwide (England) to low income families. As of mid-March, HAGS had allocated 109,423 grants across England, of a total of 270,000, with around 60,000 applications in the system. 4,901 of these grants have been made to parents in Birmingham. Grants are available, on a one per family basis, to families with a child receiving Free School Meals, in Key stages 2 or 3. Call 0333 200 1004 to request an application form for a voucher worth £528 before the scheme runs out of money.
Or visit the Home Access website is at www.homeaccess.org.uk Or call the Home Access helpline on 0333 200 1004 to request application packs. Looked After Children – In Foster Care We would like to highlight the fact that all children placed in foster care are eligible to have an application for a Home Access Grant made on their behalf. Foster parents should speak to the child’s designated care worker in order to obtain a form and for it to be completed.
HAGS Eligibility Families are eligible to claim a Home Access Grant if they: are entitled to claim Free School Meals; have a child in Key Stages 2 or 3; and have not received a computer under Computers for Pupils or a similar scheme. (Please note that our parent-supported e-Learning schemes do not disqualify families) The grants will be to a maximum value of £528, which is to pay for both a computer and an Internet connection. Families can apply for just the computer or just the Internet connection if that is all they need.
The grant is per family and NOT per child. |
